Children's Day
Girls and boys are the citizens of the now, and that is why their development and well-being is fundamental to build fairer and more equitable societies. Under this concept, the General Assembly of the United Nations urged the States to establish a national date to celebrate the Universal Children's Day. Ecuador was one of several countries that accepted this recommendation and set up on June 1 as Children's Day. This celebration has become a tradition in the country and has served to make a balance every year on the situation of children in the country.
Unicef has been part of that journey and witnessed how countries have made valuable efforts to improve the conditions of their younger generations. Today it is important to highlight these achievements, but at the same time it is necessary to emphasize that there are still many children to look after, protect and educate.
